Occupational Outlook

Employment of communication graduates is projected to grow 6 percent from 2016 to 2026, about as fast as the average for all occupations, which will result in about 43,200 new jobs.

Salary Outlook

In the state of Missouri, the median annual wage for media and communication occupations was $54,780, depending on education, experience and employer.

Communication Careers

SCC graduates with a Communication Transfer Program A.A. degree are employed in a broad range of careers including, but not limited to: advertising, journalism, digital communication and media, print publishing, public relations, radio and TV and sports communication.

(This must include a minimum of 42 credit hours of General Education Courses.)

Per College policy Individual students may be required to take COL 101.

*Social and Behavioral Sciences: Complete one Civics Course (HIS 101, HIS 102 or POL 101) and a minimum of 6 additional credits from at least 2 disciplines.

** Humanities and Fine Arts: Complete nine credit hours from at least 2 disciplines.

*** Natural Sciences: Complete a minimum of 7 credit hours from at least 2 disciplines, including one course with a lab component.

Check with transfer institution for foreign language requirement.  A Bachelor of Arts Degree may require 3 semesters of the same foreign language.  A Bachelor of Science does not usually require foreign language.
