Program Information

Degrees at SCC

A degree in Agriculture from St. Charles Community College will provide you a diverse foundation in the agricultural sciences. The variety of courses in plant and soil sciences, animal science, natural resources, and agricultural business will prepare you for the next step in your journey.

The Associate of Science program is designed to prepare you for a variety of careers or for your bachelor’s degree from one of the many universities that offer four-year agriculture degrees. The curriculum focuses on hands-on and minds-on learning in a variety of learning environments – from the classroom, greenhouse, fields, to Busch Wildlife, you will apply your learning in real-world environments.

The Associate of Applied Science degree is designed to provide the same comprehensive education in agriculture with general education courses to prepare you to enter the agriculture industry upon graduation.

Studying Agriculture at SCC

Agriculture is one of the most diverse career fields in the U.S. and employers in the industry need well-prepared employees. The USDA reports that agriculture and related industries accounted for more than 10 percent of employment in the United States in 2021. Additionally, the USDA projects nearly 60,000 annual job openings for new agriculture graduates through 2025, indicating you will be highly employable with a degree in agriculture.

Studying Agriculture at SCC helps prepare you for a variety of jobs, from field and farm production to technical research support, natural resources management, and employment in a broad spectrum of agribusinesses.
