Dearborn Basic and Optional Life Insurance - Eligible the first of the month following first day of full-time employment.

Basic life insurance (equivalent to your annual salary) is required coverage, with reduced coverage beginning at age 65. Optional Life Insurance coverage is available. Additional coverage for spouse and dependent children can also be purchased. Rates are based on amount of coverage and age.

Coverage begins on the first of the month following first day of full-time employment. Rates are based on age.

Dearborn Short-Term Disability Plan

Benefit Amount 60% of Basic Earnings

Elimination Period  14 days

 

Dearborn Long-Term Disability Plan

The college participates in the Public School Retirement System of Missouri (PSRS). Eligible employees, upon hire or when hours worked reach eligibility levels, participate in PSRS. Contribution amount is 14.5% plus a College match of 14.5%. Visit www.psrs-peers.org for additional information.

Full-time faculty will accrue nine sick days over the course of the academic year.

Summer Sick Time Accrual: One additional day is accrued for teaching during June and/or July, with a maximum additional accrual of two days.

The college recognizes 13 paid holidays, one floating day, and the weekdays which fall between observed Christmas and New Year's holidays.

Three personal days per fiscal year are credited to current full-time faculty at the beginning of the academic year. A prorated number of personal days apply for full-time faculty beginning employment after the start of the academic year.

The college may grant sabbatical leave to faculty members after 12 continuous semesters, not including summers. Sabbatical leaves are recommended on a competitive basis by a Sabbatical Committee.

Contribution Rates
PSRS Participants (faculty, designated staff, and those with Missouri Teacher’s Certification) – 14.5% (College also contributes 14.5%). *Some positions may only contribute two-thirds to PSRS.

PEERS Participants – 6.86% (College also contributes 6.86%)

The college provides sick time to all regular full-time staff, up to 12 days of sick time can be accrued per year.

The college recognizes 13 paid holidays, one floating day, and the weekdays which fall between observed Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

Three personal days per fiscal year are available to current full-time employees on July 1. New employees hired after the start of the fiscal year (July 1) will have personal time distributed on the first payroll after the Introductory Period, based on a depreciating schedule.

Future growth for SCC includes building a Regional Workforce Innovation Center in the Western sector of St. Charles County, which will be the premier educational and training center within the college’s service area, and the Greater St. Louis Region.

St. Charles County is served by five public school districts that are all fully accredited with distinction by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

 

Entertainment/Recreation:

Residents of St. Charles County are a 30-minute drive away from many amenities and the cultural vibrance of St. Louis city featuring museums; world-famous Busch Stadium, home of the St. Louis Cardinals; a world-class zoo (that's free to the public), and of course, the world-renowned Arch. St. Louis is also the home of the largest urban park in the country, (yes, even larger than Central Park in NYC!), known as Forest Park, home of the 1904 World's Fair.

Health/Wellness:

St. Charles County is home to 15 parks, including Veterans Tribute Park which opened in October 2018. This 120-acre park features "a destination playground for children of all abilities, a walking and biking trail system, fishing lakes, a dog park, play fields and more." The county also represents the starting point for the 225-mile Katy Trail State Park, which features a designated biking/walking trail that winds through rural Missouri.
