Start off on the right foot

SCC is here to help you on your educational journey. Whether you need to take a high school equivalency test, strengthen your math skills, complete an assessment test before registering for classes, or meet with an advisor, we have all the services you need.

High School Equivalency (HSE) Preparation and Testing

We offer free high school equivalency classes to prepare students for HiSET® and GED® testing, and to improve their skills in reading, writing, and math.

High School Equivalency (HSE) classes are available for Missouri residents who are 17 or older and not enrolled in high school. Classes meet twice a week for 3 hours. You must complete enrollment (see below) before you attend class. Classes meet from August through May. We enroll new students each month from August to March.

Eligibility:
To register, students must be at least 17 years old, not enrolled in high school, must have a Missouri address, and must not be in the U.S. on an F-1 (student) Visa.

17-year-olds who are recently unenrolled from high school should bring a drop letter from the school to registration.

Please note: Children are not permitted in Adult Education enrollment or class sessions.

  • Public school students who have earned 16 high school credits must provide two documents to enroll:
    • A letter from the school that includes the date the student withdrew.
    • A transcript or other official verification from the school that the student has successfully completed 16 credits of high school work.
  • Homeschooled students who have at least 1000 hours of high school-level home education must meet the requirements of 167.031 RSMo for course instruction and have written permission of the parent or legal guardian indicating compliance.

In-person HSE enrollment sessions are held at these locations:

  • St. Charles Community College's main campus in Cottleville
  • Houghton Mifflin Harcourt building in Troy
  • Missouri University Extension Center in Warrenton (details below).

Students must attend one enrollment session for orientation and initial assessment testing to determine HSE readiness prior to class attendance. This initial assessment provides information for an individual learning plan. You do not need an appointment to attend enrollment, but you must be on time and complete the full session to be assigned into a class. Early arrival is encouraged. HSE classes will be offered both in-person and virtually, subject to availability.

Tuition assistance may be available. For more information, contact Lindsay Woods by email or text at 636-362-6545.

Certified Logistics Technician/Certified Logistics Associate

Led by an industry specialist, students are introduced to the basics of logistics in CLA classes (Certified Logistics Associate). Those concepts are expanded upon in CLT classes (Certified Logistics Technician), enabling students to be successful in all areas of logistic environments. Classes meet two evenings per week; schedule is TBD.

High School Equivalency Testing (HSE)

A High School Equivalency (HSE) certificate is comparable to a traditional high school diploma and can be used to obtain employment or pursue education and training in Missouri. The Missouri State Board of Education approves two HSE tests in Missouri:

  • HiSET, provided by PSI
  • GED, provided by GED Testing Service

When you have passed all subject areas of the test, you will earn a High School Equivalency certificate from the Missouri State Board of Education. For more information and a detailed comparison of the two tests, go to www.hse.mo.gov.
