How to Register

Some quick tips for getting you off on the right foot when you're ready to register for credit classes at SCC.

Current and returning students may use Student Planning to register (you'll need your SCC login ID and password). Sign-in to the SCC Portal > under SCC Connection > select Students > select Registration > select Student Planning & Registration.  (Please note, New First-Time Freshman, Athletes, and International Students must meet with an Academic Advisor before being able to register for courses.)

New First-Time Freshman

We know it's your first time, and we are here for you. SCC Academic Advisors are here to work with you in developing your roadmap to success.

Step 1: Apply for Admissions – complete the SCC Admission Application.

Step 2: Activate your SCC username/password – these will be used to access your SCC Portal, Email and Canvas. Remember, the SCC Portal>SCC Connection is where you can register for classes, see your financial aid, view your grades, etc.). You can also find campus announcements, news and events in the portal.   1. Your username/password is contained in your Admissions Acceptance Packet.
  2. If you have issues signing in, please contact the IT Service Desk at 636-922-8555 or servicedesk@stchas.edu.

Step 3: Submit Transcripts – your final High School transcript, ACT/SAT scores, and any other College or University transcripts you may have. Send this information to enrollment@stchas.edu.

  1. Request for Evaluation of Transfer Credit (if you have college transfer credits from another institution) Transcripts sent to SCC will not be automatically reviewed unless the student has requested in writing that a review be made. Sign into your SCC Portal>Quick Links>eForms>Request for Evaluation of Transfer Credit - complete the required information and click submit.
  2. You will receive a transfer evaluation report indicating how the courses were accepted. Please allow two weeks for an evaluation from the time the transcripts are received at SCC.

Step 4: Work with an SCC Academic Advisor. You can walk-in to Academic Advising (Office Hours Availble Here) or register to join an Advising and Registration event for First-Time Freshmen (Learn More and Sign Up).

Step 5: Prepare to meet with your Academic Advisor.  Fill out the Advising Checklist. By answering these questions before your meeting, you will be most prepared to work with an Academic Advisor to create your roadmap to success.

Step 6: Review the Pathways/Degrees/Certificates. Make sure your Advisor knows which major, degree, or certificate you are hoping to complete at SCC. Look at the information contained on this site to learn more about what courses are suggested for your academic path.

New Transfer Students

We're excited that you are joining us! Please know, meeting with an Academic Advisor is important to make sure you are aware of how all of your credits transferred into SCC and plan your next steps.

Step 1: Apply for Admissions – complete the SCC Admission Application.

Current/Returning SCC Student

Step 1: Write down your questions before meeting with an Academic Advisor so we can address them all.

Step 2: Make sure you have gone to the SCC Student Planning to review your “My Progress” toward your degree (see tutorials below for more assistance).

Step 3: Using your SCC account, email advising@stchas.edu to ask any questions you may have. Please include your SCC ID# in the email. Academic Advisors will respond to your email within 36 business hours. Academic Advisors may answer your questions via email or by requesting you to meet via video chat. A couple of things to possibly include in the email:

  1. Let the Academic Advisor know how things are going so far at SCC!
  2. Are you planning to continue your current degree/certificate path?
  3. Are you wanting to explore other classes/options?
  4. Do you want to learn more about the resources available to assist you?

Step 4: Register for classes.

Step 11: Graduation - as we continue to develop your academic roadmap, let’s chat about your potential timeline for graduation and the items you will need to complete! If you think you are one semester away from graduation:

  1. Apply online through SCC Connection>Student>Student Self-Service>Apply for graduation
  2. Check the current academic calendar for deadlines for application submission.
  3. A summer graduate wishing to participate in the May commencement ceremony must file an application for graduation by March 1st.
Visiting/Non-Degree Seeking Student

Students who are visiting or non-degree seeking students (neither planning to complete a degree/certificate at SCC) should email enrollment@stchas.edu to inquire about registration.

Step 1: Apply for Admissions – complete the SCC Admission Application.

Step 2: Activate your SCC username/password – these will be used to access your SCC Portal, Email and Canvas. Remember, the SCC Portal>SCC Connection is where you can register for classes, see your financial aid, view your grades, etc.). You can also find campus announcements, news and events in the portal.   1. Your username/password is contained in your Admissions Acceptance Packet.

Step 3: Submit the Admissions Transient Student Approval Form – Fill in the the form, request the appropriate certifying signature from your host college/university, and send the completed form from you SCC email address to enrollment@stchas.edu. High school and college transcripts are not required, and any placement testing requirements will be waived, as a courtesy to the home institution if this form is completed.

Step 5: Email enrollment@stchas.edu to identify which course(s) you wish to register for (please make sure to send from your SCC email account and include your SCC ID# and the course name, code, and section number).

Dual-Enrolled High School Student

High school juniors or seniors may enroll in college-level classes and start earning college credit. The credits earned will be recorded on an SCC transcript and may be used to fulfill degree requirements at SCC or at a transfer institution's discretion.

Please note: Failure to successfully complete courses through the Dual Enrollment Program may impact future financial assistance eligibility.

Requirements to be eligible for dual enrollment:

  • Must have the written permission from your high school counselor or principal.
  • Have at least a 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) high school grade point average. (Some high school districts require a higher GPA to participate.)
  • Students enrolled in 6 credit hours or in math or English courses are required to complete the SCC Assessment.
  • The signature of an SCC counselor for registration your first semester in dual enrollment.
  • A completed dual enrollment application form is required every semester of enrollment.

Dual Enrollment Registration Process:

  1. Complete an Application for Admission

  2. Complete a Dual Enrolled Application

  3. Take the Academic Skills Assessment

  4. Meet with Kathy Brockgreitens (636-922-8229 or via email at kbrockgreitens@stchas.edu). Your test results will be reviewed you will receive assistance in selecting your courses. A limit of 6 credit hours may be taken each semester. A signature of an SCC academic advisor is required for registration the first semester.

  5. Developmental courses or physical education courses ARE NOT available to dual-enrolled or home-schooled students until your high school curriculum is completed. If you want to take developmental courses (courses below 100 level), physical education courses or would like to take more than 6 credit hours, you must write a letter of appeal explaining your situation to the dean of academic advising and transfer services. Letters of support from your principal or high school counselor will be necessary. Any other exception that is unique to your situation must also be addressed in this manner.

  6. Under Age 16? You will need to contact the Kathy Brockgreitens (636-922-8229) who will review your placement scores to determine if you placed into college-level coursework.

  7. Pay Tuition and Fees in Full. Save time and pay online viamySCC.

  8. Obtain Picture ID and Parking Tags.

  9. Purchase materials needed for each course at the Campus Store.

Continuing Education

Learn a new personal or professional skill. Pursue a talent or passion you've put on pause. Or find fun and enriching creative and recreational opportunities for your kids.

It's easy to register for Continuing Education (non-credit) classes at SCC:

  • Review the current schedule of classes.
  • Register online, or in person in Room 103, Humanities Building on the SCC Campus, 4601 Mid Rivers Mall Dr., Cottleville, MO 63376
  • Taking classes with us for the first time? Creating an account will allow you to register online and track your course selections. You will receive a copy of your profile via email, that includes your username and password information for your records.  If you do not wish to receive this information by email, please contact our office at 636-922-8233 to register.
Life Long Learners

Even if you're not fresh out of high school or working towards a degree, you can still learn something new every day at SCC.

We work hard to put the community in community college by offering non-credit courses and programs designed to enrich lives and advance careers.
