Business Administration Programs
Students take a broad range of business courses, gaining important skills in accounting,
marketing, management, and economics. Students in the Associate of Applied Science
program will be ready to enter the workforce immediately. The Certificate of Achievement
and Certificate of Specialization programs are built for students who are already
in the workforce, looking to expand their skillsets in their current profession.
Students may also choose an Associate of Arts program with a focus in business that
will prepare them to transfer to a bachelor’s degree program.
Areas of specialization:
- Accounting
Students learn the basics of payroll, taxes, and corporate and personal finances.
You’ll develop essential analytic, technical, and problem-solving skills that are
applicable to many professions.
- General Business
Designed for students who are still determining which area of business to specialize
in, these programs provide a solid background in marketing, accounting, and management.
- Finance
Students develop a keen understanding of economic and monetary systems, managerial
accounting, corporate finance, banking, and financial markets, with opportunities
to apply that knowledge to real-world situations.
- Management
This program will dive deeply into more advanced topics, such as organizational behavior,
human resources, operations management, and entrepreneurship. Students learn to apply
their knowledge to real-world situations, honing their leadership skills, collaborative
working methods, and their ability to utilize technology to enhance organizational
productivity.
- Marketing
Students learn to tap into their innate creativity, creating marketing plans that
harness the power of social media, advertising, e-marketing, market research, personal
selling, and sales. Courses will also develop skills of persuasion and introduce ways
of understanding and leveraging consumer behavior.
Economics Transfer Program
This program engages in a systematic study of the production, conservation, and allocation
of resources in conditions of scarcity, examining the organizational frameworks related
to these processes. Students receive instruction in economic theory, micro- and macroeconomics,
comparative economic systems, money and banking systems, international economics,
quantitative analytical methods, with applications to specific industries and public
policy issues. The program prepares individuals to pursue a bachelor’s degree in economics
or other areas of business.
Entrepreneurship Certificate Programs
These programs build the skills necessary to successfully operate a start-up or small
business venture. Students will develop proficiencies in accounting/bookkeeping, finance,
marketing, and communication, as well as an understanding of common legal and regulatory
issues relating to business.
Retail Banking Certificate Program
Designed for students already in the workforce, students will hone their banking and
finance skills for the retail market. This specialized program requires only 15 credit
hours (five classes), has no General Education credits, and may be completed in as
little as one semester.
