While many parents are searching for safe, fun and educational options for their kids this summer, St. Charles Community College has announced it will now offer its College for All Kids program online.

“Each camp has a live instructor teaching the class in the virtual space,” said Amy Fitzwilliam. She manages the College for All Kids program each summer. “There will be hands-on activities and projects, as well as online interaction with other students.”

One of those instructors is Savannah Azurin. She’ll teach three different classes this summer related to reading and writing.

“While writing will be a prominent feature in all of my camps, students won't just be writing the whole time!” explained Azurin. “We also are taking advantage of the digital platform to explore some great resources. We may use Quizizz for fast-paced trivia games, Google Canvas for creating fan art, Zoom for partner feedback time, Google Sites for publishing stories, FlipGrid for making reaction videos, and more.”

Most College for All Kids classes are designed for students ages 5-14. Topics range from computer science to culinary to fine arts.

“We have many returning favorites such as Minecraft Designers, Photography Fun, Making Movie Magic and Esports Apprentice,” explained Fitzwilliam, “but they will just be offered online this year instead of in person. We are also adding new camps such as Virtual Lego CAD Building, Live Lego Building Minecraft and Star Wars, Percy Jackson Gods Online, Fan Fiction Antics and many more.”
