College-Wide Policies
While each course, department, and faculty will have policies and procedures that are specific to each course, there are a handful of policies that apply to all academic programs at the college.
Attendance- The college has no plan of recognized class absences. It is expected that students will attend all class meetings. In general, students are considered excessively absent when they have missed a class more times than the credit hour value of the course. For distance or online classes, “attendance” is defined as active participation in the course as described in the individual course syllabus. For additional attendance policy information, including attendance policies for college-sponsored events and activities, please visit the attendance policy in the student handbook.
Student Conduct, Discipline, and Due Process- These policies apply to all students at St. Charles Community College. Policies included: Academic misconduct, cheating & plagiarism, academic integrity, behavioral misconduct, disciplinary sanctions, suspension, and student appeal processes. Please visit the student conduct, discipline, and due process policies page for more information.
Student and Administrative Withdrawal- A student may be referred for an administrative withdrawal for excessive absences or lack of work turned in during the class. Students should not assume they will be withdrawn – it remains their responsibility to withdraw from any class they do not plan to attend. For specific details on the policy please refer to the SCC Student Handbook and the College withdrawal policy for more information.
