The A+ Scholarship program at St. Charles Community College appealed to Kelsey Brakensiek as a recent high school graduate. “I knew it was smarter financially,” she said.

She started her education at SCC and took a chemistry class thinking she would need it for her degree. “I ended up absolutely loving it and excelling in it,” she said. “Shout out to Professor Beth Michael-Smith and her Quantitative Analysis Class.”

Eventually, she began working for the ACE Tutoring Center. “I love helping people,” she said. “I tutor chemistry, so I’m able to combine my love for chemistry with my love for helping people.”

 “SCC is a great school for those who aren’t ready to leave home, or if they just cannot afford to go to a university all four years,” Kelsey said. “The professors are also very helpful and care about student success.”

After SCC, Kelsey plans to continue her education at Missouri S&T.
