Becky & Rich Loughridge
Becky & Rich Loughridge
Married couple, Becky and Rich Loughridge, first crossed paths during their time as students at St. Charles Community College.
“I was a recipient of the A+ scholarship after graduating high school and knew I could save money by staying close to my family,” Becky said.
“It is difficult to determine what you want to be when you grow up immediately after they hand you your high school diploma,” she said. “SCC is a great way to explore and discover the areas in which you excel.”
Rich had a similar experience. “I decided to go to SCC because I was really uncertain what direction I wanted to follow in life. The thought of taking on a tremendous amount of student debt while I figured out what my passions were was pretty scary,” he said.
They each pursued their interest in theatre while at SCC and met in an acting class. Later, they were both cast in the Center Stage Theatre production of The Diary of Anne Frank.
“Even though the content of the show wasn’t particularly romantic, we quickly found that we enjoyed each other’s company in ‘the annex,’” Becky said. “Our director, and SCC professor emeritus, Hal Berry, will take credit to this day for our blossoming show-mance.”
After SCC, Becky and Rich each went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in the St. Louis region. Becky attended the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and Rich attended Lindenwood University.
Becky now works for FlightSafety International – St. Louis as the operations support and compliance coordinator, and Rich pursued a few business opportunities after graduation before setting into a career in real estate.
The pair credits SCC for long-lasting memories and friendships.
“Without question, the highlight of my experience at SCC would be connecting with people who shared my passion for the arts,” Becky said. “I met many friends through the Music and Theatre departments, while learning from faculty who truly cared for about their students’ success.”
“Not only did theatre at SCC provide me great skills that I still apply in the business world, but I made lifelong friendships,” Rich said. “On top of that, I met my future wife. I have SCC to thank for a lot of the blessings in my life.”
