SCC College for All Kids summer camps now enrolling

CFAK

Learning and having fun go hand-in-hand this summer at St. Charles Community College’s College for All Kids camps. The College for All Kids summer camps are now enrolling for more than 120 academic enrichment and sports camps to be held June 3-Aug. 2, for children ages 5-14. STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) camps are areas of specialty.

From zombies to coding, podcasting to movie making, cooking to gaming and LEGO robotics engineering to physics, flights and drones, kids and teens will find something to inspire and motivate them at SCC.

“Each camp explores a topic in depth. It is important for us to keep pursuing students’ interests with fresh new camps and returning favorites,” said Amy Fitzwilliam, SCC program specialist. “We hope to be able to spark a student’s enthusiasm in new topics and open their eyes to new possibilities in learning and areas of interest.”

This year, CFAK has a co-sponsorship with the University of Missouri Extension. Culinary camps such as Farm to Fork, Kids in the Kitchen, Cupcake Creations and Masterchef will be held at the St. Peters University of Missouri Extension. Kids will be able to tend to the garden there and cook with produce and herbs and explore gardening and healthy cooking. There will be more STEM camps at the college’s Center for Healthy Living (CHL) campus in Dardenne Prairie. Some of the camps at SCC’s CHL will be Camp Scrubs, Python Programmers, Cooking up Science, Roblox Makers – Coders and Entrepreneurs, CSI: Mystery to Trial and more! SCC will have more camps at Inventor Forge – a makerspace located in the EDC (Economic Development Center) in Cottleville. Some of those camps will be 3D Printing, Woodworking, Metalsmithing with Wire and Make your own Laser-Cut Board Game. On SCC’s main campus there will be many new camps in all subject areas.

College for All Kids summer camps are committed to ensuring child safety. The camp provides a 10:1 safe ratio of students per staff member. All staff have background checks and attend training workshops. Camp assistants all have CPR, First-Aid, and Epi-Pen training.
