When St. Charles Community College decided to move all classes and services online, it wanted to ensure all students had the tools needed to succeed.
The SCC Foundation is helping make that goal a reality. The SCC Foundation Board approved $25,000 to help meet technology needs for students and faculty who are now using distance learning as classes and services move online.
“We are thankful for the businesses, alumni and friends who give to SCC to support education,” said Scott Liebel, SCC Foundation Board president. “The board is committed to helping students be successful, so we are happy to support the extra technology needed during this challenging time.”
Some of the items purchased so far include headsets, webcams and document cameras. Additionally, more than 20 students were able to utilize long-term laptop checkout for the rest of the semester through the informational technology service desk. Eighteen mobile hotspots were also made available to students with connectivity issues.
St. Charles Community College will continue assessing the needs of its students and make more resources available throughout this unprecedented time.
