Young People's Theatre will hold open auditions for “Peter and the Starcatcher” at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, in the Donald D. Shook Fine Arts Building theater on the St. Charles Community College
campus. The campus is located at 4601 Mid Rivers Mall Drive in Cottleville. Callbacks
- by invitation only - will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17.
Performances will be at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 11-12, and at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 12-13. Tickets will be $10 and can be purchased at stchastickets.com or by calling 636-922-8233.
Auditions are open for youth ages 8 to 19 and will consist of cold readings, song and a short dance combination that will be taught. Wear comfortable clothing and bring jazz/ballet/character shoes for the dance audition. A parent or guardian must be present during the audition. To be cast, students must either have had Introductory Theatre Workshop I or be concurrently enrolled in that class in addition to being in the production. If selected, production cost is $190. Tony-winning “Peter and the Starcatcher” upends the century-old story of how a miserable orphan comes to be the boy who would not grow up - Peter Pan. From marauding pirates and jungle tyrants to unwilling comrades and unlikely heroes, this play explores the depths of greed and despair and the bonds of friendship, duty and love.
This play - by Rick Elice - is based on the novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, featuring music by Wayne Barker. “Peter and the Starcatcher” was originally produced on Broadway by Nancy Nagel Gibbs, Greg Schaffert, Eva Price, Tom Smedes and Disney Theatrical Productions.
“Peter and the Starcatcher” is presented through a special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI (www.MTIShows.com).
