Auditions for Center Stage Theatre's production of ‘The Laramie Project' set for March 11-12

Center Stage Theatre is holding a casting call for “The Laramie Project” at 7 p.m. March 11-12 at St. Charles Community College. There are many roles available, and casting is flexible. Callbacks - by invitation only - will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13. Performance dates are April 24-28.

Auditions are open to the community and will consist of cold readings from the script. A copy of the script is available at the SCC library. Monologues are encouraged but not required.

This gripping play concerns Americans' reaction to the murder of Matthew Shepard in October 1998. Shepard was kidnapped, severely beaten and left to die in Laramie, Wyo. Moises Kaufman and others went to Laramie and conducted more than 200 interviews about the event, from which they wrote “The Laramie Project.” The Tectonic Theater Project helped to create this piece.

This performance of “The Laramie Project” is produced by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc. Samantha Stavely will direct the performances. Set design will be created by Jeff Roop, and costume design will be created by Jessy Boyd.
