Young People's Theatre will hold open auditions for The Wizard of Oz at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, in the Donald D. Shook Fine Arts Building theater on the St. Charles Community College campus. The campus is located at 4601 Mid Rivers Mall Drive in Cottleville. Callbacks for principle roles will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7.

Auditions are open for youth ages, 8 to 18, and will consist of solo singing, a dance routine which will be taught and brief readings from the script. Students auditioning should bring dance shoes (jazz, ballet, tap or all) and wear clothes in which they can dance comfortably. They should also prepare 16 to 32 measures of a Broadway repertoire song in their key and bring an accompaniment CD, no a cappella or singing over lyrics. 

Those auditioning must be accompanied by an adult. To be cast, students must either have had Introductory Theatre Workshop I or concurrently enroll in that class in addition to being in the production.   

Performances will be at 7 p.m. Friday, March 16, Saturday, March 17, Thursday, March 22, Friday, March 23, and Saturday, March 24; and 2 p.m. Sunday, March 18, Saturday, March 24, and Sunday, March 25. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at stchastickets.com or by calling 636-922-8233.
