St. Charles Community College is shaking things up by adding Second Spring classes for students who may have missed spring registration or didn't get the classes they initially wanted this semester.
Second Spring classes offer the same curriculum and number of credits, but can be completed in a shorter timeframe of 12 or eight weeks.
Newly added pre-algebra courses start Feb. 6 at SCC. Additional general education and prerequisite courses start March 20 - including classes in art, biology, business, business technology, computers, economics, English, health information management, literature, music, psychology and speech.
“We are exploring new opportunities for our students to reach their educational goals,” said Barbara Kavalier, Ph.D., SCC president. “Adding Second Spring classes to the mix is just another way we are able to do that.”
Regular registration hours are 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Friday.
These courses can easily be transferred to different institutions, so even non-SCC students can pick up a class this spring, college officials said.
In addition to quality academic programs, SCC provides support and resources to encourage student success that include financial assistance, scholarship options, a free on-campus tutoring center, veteran's resources, accessibility services, career guidance, and a number of clubs, activities, sports and events.
