St. Charles Community College has hired William Lancaster as the new assistant coach for the men's soccer team. Lancaster will assist head coach Donnie Alberty starting in the 2016 season.

“We are very happy to have Coach Lancaster join our program,” Alberty said. “He brings a great deal of experience, both as a player and a coach. In addition, he is an educator and really cultivates and fosters the type of relationships that are vital to the development of our players. Our program just improved tremendously with the hiring of Lancaster.”

Lancaster has been involved with the game of soccer in some capacity for most of his life as a player, referee or coach. He was a two-year varsity soccer player at Pattonville High School, where he was named All-Conference and All-Metro as a senior.

After graduating, he played for two years at Lewis and Clark Community College and one year at Southern Nazarene University before joining the United States Air Force. While stationed overseas, Lancaster played semi-professionally for Dereham Town Football Club in the United Kingdom.

After returning home from active duty, he spent three years as an assistant coach at Pattonville High School, where he helped guide the varsity girl's soccer team to the final four in 2009 and 2010. He recently finished his sixth season as the head coach for the varsity boy's soccer team at Valley Park High School, where he currently works as the Director of the Community School.

Lancaster received a bachelor's degree in liberal studies from Excelsior College, a master's degree in teaching from Lindenwood University, Goalkeeping Level I, State and Regional Diplomas from the NSCAA, as well as his MSHSAA Certification. He is currently finishing an educational specialist degree in administration at Lindenwood University and has completed all of the coursework required to become a Registered Athletic Administrator through the NIAAA.
