At a special meeting in late March, the St. Charles Community College Board of Trustees selected an executive search firm to assist the Board in its work to select the college's next president.

The Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) Executive Search Services was selected primarily to collect qualified candidates in a national search for the SCC presidency.  ACCT focuses on two-year public community and technical colleges, providing search assistance, recruitment of a diverse and high quality pool of candidates, and guidance on a sound process to the Board and the college.

In addition to selecting the search firm, the Board also announced the final Presidential Profile and the individuals who have been named to the search committee.

Input on the Presidential Profile, which will serve as the foundation of the presidential search, was sought from faculty, staff, students, the community and the SCC Board of Trustees and Foundation Board. The profile was finalized by the Board following their regular meeting held on March 14.  The search committee and the Presidential Profile, which includes college opportunities and challenges, ideal characteristics of the SCC president, and minimum qualifications, can be found on the SCC Presidential Search website at www.stchas.edu/presidentialsearch.

The Presidential Search Committee will meet for the first time on Friday, April 8, according to college officials. The committee, which is chaired by Board of Trustees Vice President Pamela Cilek, is comprised of members of the SCC Board, faculty, staff and students, as well as SCC Foundation Board and community members. The full committee list can be found at www.stchas.edu/presidentialsearch.

“The Search Committee has a critical mission - to recommend to the Board of Trustees the best candidate to serve as the institution's next president,” Cilek said. “We look forward to beginning our work.”

Following the special meeting in March, the Board announced that Todd Galbierz, vice president for administrative services, was named interim president effective March 22. “It is with full confidence that the Board has named Todd Galbierz as interim president,” said Rose Mack, president of the SCC Board of Trustees. “Todd brings a great deal of knowledge to the position and we are fortunate to have him at the helm during this transition period.”
