Six hundred SCC students were invited to join the SCC chapter of PTK. One hundred of those students joined and 40 students attended the induction ceremony. Students who have completed 12 college credit hours and have a grade point average of 3.5 on the 4.0 scale were invited to join.

The induction ceremony's guest speaker was Paul Wright, Ph.D., professor of sports psychology and physical education at Lindenwood University, adjunct professor of psychology and physical education at SCC, and Olympic coach of the 2012 Hong Kong, China track team.

At the PTK Missouri Region Conference in March, the SCC chapter was awarded a Three Star in the Five Star Category and the Icarus Award that recognizes the efforts of a chapter in planning and implementing a project that did not achieve the expected outcomes.

The advisor for Alpha Xi Chi, Brenda Hollrah, was recognized with the Glaux Faculty award. This award goes to a faculty member employed by the college who has significantly contributed to Phi Theta Kappa at a chapter, regional or international level.

Alpha Xi Chi students, Jon Silberhorn and Casey Koessel, were honored in March by the Missouri Community College Association as members of the All-Missouri Academic Team, an honor bestowed on the state's top community college students.
