Mr. Chang and Ms. Wilkins were named to the All-Missouri Academic Team, an honor bestowed on the state's top community college students. Mr. Chang is in the pre-engineering program, and Ms. Tobi is in the pre-health and criminal justice programs. In addition to being named to the All-Missouri Academic Team, Ms. Wilkins was named a Coca-Cola Bronze Scholar, which means that her application was among the 150 highest-scoring in the nation.
Senator David Pearce greeted the students and congratulated them on their achievements, and each student received a scholarship made possible by a donation from MOHELA, the state's not-for-profit secondary market lender and servicer in the student loan industry. SCC president Dr. Ron Chesbrough accompanied the students.
Photos of the honorees receiving their awards will be posted on the Missouri Community College Association's Facebook page by midnight tonight.
