For the first time, SCC is combining the annual Transfer Fair with the College Majors' Fair into one informative event for students.
“Our hope is to make it a convenient one-stop opportunity for students to gather a lot of valuable information,” said Martha Toebben, career services coordinating counselor. “The fair provides a way for students to explore the academic opportunities available to them at SCC as well as potential majors at other universities.”
SCC held its first College Majors Fair last year, and it was a huge success with more than 350 students in attendance and more than 50 college majors represented.
More than 40 majors will be represented at the fair this year, along with counselors and representatives from more than 20 Missouri colleges. The event is open to all current, former and prospective SCC students.
Individual booths, each representing a college major, will be set up on the perimeter of the College Center Gym. Students can talk with representatives at various tables inquiring about the college major and related career opportunities.
Admissions representatives from various colleges and universities will staff the booths set up in the middle of the College Center Gym. Students can talk with representatives regarding applying to and attending their universities.
The participating schools will have counselors available to talk to students about their specific programs and transfer requirements. Students are encouraged to bring a record of their completed college courses, as well as any questions they may have about transferring.
The following colleges and universities will have representatives at the fair: Central Christian College of the Bible, Central Methodist University, Columbia College, Concordia University, Culver-Stockton College, Devry University, Hannibal-LaGrange College, Harris-Stowe State University, Lindenwood University, Logan College of Chiropractic, Maryville University, Missouri State University, Missouri University of Science and Technology, Ranken Technical College, Southeast Missouri State University, Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville, St. Louis University, Stephens College, University of Central Missouri, University of Missouri and Webster University.
The Transfer and College Majors Fair is sponsored by Barklage, Brett, Wibbenmeyer and Hamill, Attorneys at Law, and Mueller Prost PC, CPAs and Business Advisors.
