At SCC, that's one reason Returning Learners exists - so that “non-traditional,” older students have somewhere to turn for support. It's also a large reason why SCC hosts free Returning Learners Workshops throughout the year on its campus, located at 4601 Mid Rivers Mall Drive in Cottleville.
The next Returning Learners Workshop is scheduled for 8:45 a.m.-noon Monday-Wednesday, Oct. 4-6, in the college's Student Center Private Dining Room.
The workshop will cover goal setting and decision making, self-confidence building, career exploration, assertiveness training, time and stress management and financial assistance information. Participants will also learn about SCC's programs, courses, Returning Learners support group and other services for adults.
At the beginning of the workshop, participants will spend time becoming acquainted with one another, receive study skills training and become familiar with SCC through a discussion of topics that address common student concerns.
Career and financial aid counselors will discuss the logistics and goals of going back to school as adults, parents and professionals. Participants will learn about the various ways to pay for college, such as financial aid and scholarships.
For more information or to register for the workshop, call Andrea Crouch at 636-922-8248. The workshop is free, but reservations are required.
