Rec Resources

The Rec Center is a multipurpose facility located in the northwest quadrant of the campus. A major purpose of programming in the Rec Center is to assist in the promotion of health and wellness for the campus community by providing a healthy environment for personal development through physical and recreational activities.

The spaces in the Rec Center are available for team practices, recreational games, dance activities and many other college events requiring a large gathering area.

The second floor houses classrooms for academic physical education credit courses as well as continuing education classes. See both the credit and non-credit class schedules for a complete listing of physical education, recreation and fitness classes.

 

The gym is open for recreational sport activities for SCC students, faculty, and staff when not scheduled for regular college activities or special events. Stop by the Athletic Office, RC 104, for any questions.

How to Use the Fitness Center/Gym
  1. Complete the waiver and turn into Fitness Center staff.
    • Waivers must be completed every academic year.
  2. Students, faculty, and staff must have a current SCC ID card. 
  3. Check in and out at the front desk must be done using said SCC ID.
    • You may not use fitness center if you do not have a current SCC ID card.
Attire
  • NO SANDALS, OPEN-TOED SHOES, OR BARE FEET.
  • No clothing with metal rivets.
  • Athletic attire and shoes recommended.
  • Tank tops must cover entire chest.
  • No midriff tops.

**All backpacks, coats, purses, and other personal items should be stored in a locker. SCC is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Lockers are available for day use only.

***Fitness Center is closed every weekday from 1 PM - 2 PM***

Admittance to the Fitness Center requires a student ID card to prove current college student status. Always check-in with the staff at the front desk before entering the Fitness Center. 

The Fitness Center is not available for open use during scheduled classes. Please check the class schedule or posted schedule on the Fitness Center bulletin board for "open" use times and updates.

Lockers can be located in the Men's and Women's restrooms. They are available for student use while in the gym or fitness center.

Remember that lockers are for day use only. Please remove locks and belongings daily.

Lockers will be opened nightly for cleaning and disinfecting purposes, any items will either be thrown away or given to Lost and Found, located in the Campus Police station.

SCC is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Please make sure to lock your locker or pick up your items promptly.

Walk your way to health over the paths of the beautiful 228-acre SCC campus. Grants have helped fund the construction of many parts of the walking paths as well as the convenient trail markers that guide you around each one. You can start on each trail at any point, and all three have easy access to the trailhead marker near the Technology Building.

SCC encourages students to work with a faculty or staff member when organizing collection/donation drives. These can be done through student organizations or for service learning classes!

GSN creates a forum for international students and others to share their experiences and cultures with each other, the College, and the local community. Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) is the international honor society of two-year colleges, recognizing and promoting academic achievement. Alpha Xi Chi, SCC's Chapter, conducts activities related to the hallmarks of Phi Theta Kappa: service, fellowship, leadership, and scholarship. Students will be invited to become members upon completion of 12 or more college-level credits with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
