Welcome to SCC.

We are here to assist you with all types of federal, state, institutional and outside resources for financial assistance!

At this time, all financial aid communications from SCC will take place either through your Financial Aid Checklist or in your official SCC email account. So, please check both of these regularly.

Please navigate through the menu items below and contact us at financialaid@stchas.edu if you have any questions.

The 2024-2025 FAFSA is available to complete!

Historically, the FAFSA has been available beginning October 1st each year. However, because of significant changes to the application and the rebuild of the FAFSA processing system, the 2024-25 FAFSA was delayed until December 31, 2023. Update: Schools nation-wide will not receive ISIRs (FAFSA results) for students until mid-March 2024. More information on these changes can be found here on our FAFSA webpage.

Which FAFSA do I Complete?

Make sure that you are completing the appropriate FAFSA for the academic year in which you will be attending (see chart below). An academic year begins in fall and ends in summer. Make sure to add our FAFSA school code: 017027. Without the school code, SCC cannot view your FAFSA.

Start Planning your Aid

All federal and most state financial aid programs require you to complete a FAFSA. The process is simple and can be done entirely online. For a quick overview of how to fill out the FAFSA, please check out this video from the U.S. Department of Education. SCC's school code is: 017027

Once you've submitted a FAFSA, your Financial Aid Checklist is your most important tool to receive financial aid at SCC. In fact, most students can complete the entire financial aid process in the Checklist!

For a quick overview of the Financial Aid Checklist, including how to access the Checklist in your MySCC Portal and complete verification, please check out this video on the Financial Aid Process at SCC.

SCC may be required to verify information on your FAFSA. If you are selected for verification, we will request the needed items in your Financial Aid Checklist. Common requested items include a Tax Return Transcript from the IRS and W2 forms from your (or your parents') employers.

Once you've submitted a FAFSA, it's important to address each item in your Checklist as soon as possible so that we can complete your financial aid file.

For a quick overview of the Financial Aid Checklist, including how to complete verification, please view this video on the Financial Aid Process at SCC.

Nelnet is the final step in accepting your aid package, and it's required for all financial aid students.

All students receiving any form of financial assistance are expected to meet standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). These progress standards are outlined in detail in the Financial Aid Handbook, which can be accessed from the menu at left. You are required to be familiar with the information in the Financial Aid Handbook prior to receiving financial assistance at SCC.

Visiting Students

Visiting students are degree-seeking students at another institution and plan to enroll at SCC to take classes to transfer to their home institution.

As a visiting student enrolling at SCC you are not eligible to receive financial aid at SCC, but you could receive financial aid at your home institution with a consortium agreement. Not all schools will recognize a consortium agreement, so you need to contact your home institution to see if it is an option.  For additional information regarding enrollment as a visiting student at SCC, please go to Visiting Students.
