Whether it's the changing of the leaves in the fall or the blossoming of flowers in the spring, St. Charles Community College takes a lot of pride in the beauty of its campus year-round. Because of our efforts, we are excited to announce SCC has been named a “Tree Campus” by the Arbor Day Foundation.
Tree Campus Higher Education is a national program that honors colleges and universities and their leaders for promoting healthy trees and engaging students and staff in the spirit of conservation.
According to the official award letter, “St. Charles met the five core standards for effective campus forest management, including establishment of a tree advisory committee, evidence of a campus tree care plan, dedicated annual expenditures for its campus tree program, an Arbor Day observance, and the sponsorship of student service-learning projects.”
The letter added SCC's trees provide spaces of refuge and reflection to students, staff, faculty and the community, and “your entire campus community should be proud of this work and the leadership of Todd Clements (SCC Grounds Manager) and the committee.”
