One in three college freshmen struggles with mental health. St. Charles Community College will host Mental Health and Wellness Week from Monday, March 29, through Thursday, April 1 to give students a chance to connect with important resources in the community.
All events will take place remotely this year to encourage social distancing.

Yoga for Any Body
Join us for some fun and relaxation as you melt away your stress and move your body. Faculty Jamie White will lead us through breathing and physical exercises that help promote health and well-being. Designed for all skill levels.

Culinary Therapy: Easy Meals to Cook Your Way to Better Mental Health
Cook with SCC's Interim Culinary Director and Student Support Case Manager as we walk through a beginner-friendly recipe and talk about the mental health benefits of cooking. A week prior to the class, you'll receive a short grocery list of required items for the recipe we'll make, and then we'll hop on Zoom to cook the meal with you and answer any questions. While we're cooking, we'll chat about the mental health benefits of making your own meals, but don't worry - we don't plan to take up more than an hour of your time. Our goal is to equip you with a quick and easy meal that anyone can make.

QPR Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper Training
Learn the warning signs for suicide and save a life. You can learn how to save a life from suicide. Just like CPR, QPR stands for Question, Persuade, Refer and using these steps you can help someone feeling depressed and suicidal and hope to get the lifesaving help they need.

Tuesday Tips: Self Care
The end of the semester can be a stressful time. Students will engage in a dialogue with SCC's Mental Health Counselor and Case Manager about self-care to support mental health in times of stress and anxiety. After briefly sharing a few tips, the moderators will open a dialogue to touch base about how students are doing and offer some ideas and resources to help them overcome any challenges.

Catherine relays a cautionary, yet inspirational tale that serves as a "game-changer" in this ever-changing digital reality we live in. She focuses on helping others navigate and survive the digital space, when it seems like the rules regarding privacy are changing and vulnerability is taken to a new level.

Healthy Relationships
One in five women and one in 16 men report sexual assault in college. Learn the warning signs for abuse and dating violence and how to have a healthy relationship with your partner.
