At the Feb. 15 meeting of the St. Charles Community College Board of Trustees, a series of six work sessions and public forums were announced as part of a plan to update the Presidential Profile that will serve as the foundation of the search for the next president of the college.
“The board commissioned the development of a Presidential Profile during the presidential search in 2010-11,” said Rose Mack, president of the SCC Board of Trustees. “We will soon sponsor a series of forums to determine what changes are needed, if any, to that profile.”
The Presidential Profile includes challenges and opportunities of the college, ideal characteristics of the president and candidates' minimum qualifications. “An updated Presidential Profile will be an invaluable tool in the search for the college's fourth president,” said Pamela Cilek, vice president of the SCC Board of Trustees and chair of the Presidential Search Committee.
In January, the SCC Board of Trustees accepted the resignation of SCC President Ron Chesbrough, Ph.D., effective June 30, 2016. Chesbrough, who became SCC's third president in October 2011, has accepted the presidency at Cazenovia College, a four-year private residential college near Syracuse, N.Y., to begin in July.
A special meeting was held Jan. 30 at which the board began the initial steps of the search process. It was then that the board discussed the need for input from constituency groups to ensure that the Presidential Profile is relevant and current. The board also decided at that meeting to seek out and utilize an executive search firm to assist in the search for candidates for the position, Mack said. Proposals are currently being accepted for an executive search firm.
Board of Trustee members will host six work sessions and public forums, moderated by board members Rose Mack, Pam Cilek, Shirley Lohmar and Jean Ehlmann, on campus between Feb. 26-March 7 to seek input on the Presidential Profile.
Open Public Forums will be held:
- 2-3 p.m. Friday, March 4, for community members and SCC staff, faculty and students, in the theater of the Fine Arts Building on campus.
- 4:30-5:30 p.m. Monday, March 7, for community members and SCC staff, faculty and students, in the rotunda of the College Center on campus.
The campus is located at 4601 Mid Rivers Mall Drive in Cottleville. RSVP is not required for the Open Public Forums. For more information, contact Donna Davis, vice president for human resources, at 636-922-8300.
