Open auditions are for children ages 8-18 in the Donald D. Shook Fine Arts Building on the SCC campus in Cottleville. A parent or guardian must be present with their child during the audition process. 

“The Legend of Sleeping Beauty” by Alan W. Gill

Auditions will be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17. Performances will be Oct. 18-20.

Each student will be taught a cutting of a song and a short dance combination to be performed in groups. Students may be asked to sing by themselves and may be asked to do a cold reading.

“White Christmas” by Irving Berlin

Auditions will be held from noon-5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18. Callbacks will be held 6-9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18. Performances will be Dec. 20-22.

Each student will be taught a dance and need to bring tap or jazz shoes. Principle roles are for students ages 14 and older, with the exception of one role for a girl age 8-12. There will be a large singing and dancing ensemble. Anyone auditioning for a principal role will be required to prepare 16 to 32 measures or one-minute of a Broadway repertoire song and bring an accompaniment CD. No singing over lyrics and no a cappella singing. Students need to be able to sing on stage by themselves. Callbacks for all principle roles will consist of cold readings from the script, a callback song and dance. 

SCC's Young People's Theatre provides quality family theater productions through the college's Corporate & Community Division. YPT offers children and young adults ages 8-19 the opportunity to learn all aspects of theater production through a variety of classes and participation in live theater productions.
