As another way to show appreciation, students are encouraged to register for the National Student Day contest for chance to win a scholarship, ranging from $1,000-$3,000, sponsored by National Association of College Stores.
To register for a scholarship, students must write a story about their efforts to improve our community through volunteerism and other contributions, and submit it at www.nationalstudentday.com/contest/shareyourstory.
Family members, friends, professors and community members can vote for SCC students by visiting www.nationalstudentday.com/contest/vote.
Story submissions and voting for the National Student Day contest are now open through Thursday, Oct. 17. Winners will be announced one to two weeks from the closing date of Thursday, Oct. 17.
The three most popular stories will win scholarships and seven random students who submitted stories will win iPads.
