The cost per team member is $4. This is a reduced rate from last year, thanks to a mini-grant from the SCC Foundation.
Students can compete within grade level, individual and team competitions. Winners in various categories will receive trophies, ribbons or medals, and there is a trophy for the best overall team. This tournament is also a means to qualify for the regional and state level competitions.
Every team must be accompanied by an adult age 21 or older. Teams usually consist of six members, but smaller teams are welcome. Individual students are also welcome.
“Any high school student is welcome to compete,” said Joe Howe, event coordinator and professor of mathematics at SCC. “We encourage parents, math teachers, scout leaders and any other adults to spread the word to high school students, and also to form teams of high school age students. It is a terrific tournament.”
