The cost per team member is $6. New this year, SCC will be offering an Early Bird
Special. The first three teams to register (maximum of six students per team) will
be registered at no charge. In addition, on the day of the tournament, three teams
will be randomly selected to have their registration fees refunded.
Students can compete within grade level, individual and team competitions. Winners
in various categories will receive trophies, ribbons or medals, and there is a trophy
for the best overall team. This tournament is also a means to qualify for the regional
and state level competitions.
Every team must be accompanied by an adult age 21 or older. Teams usually consist
of six members, but smaller teams are welcome.
“Any high school student is welcome to join in competing,” said Joe Howe, event coordinator
and professor of mathematics at SCC. “We encourage parents, math teachers, scout
leaders and any other adults to spread the word to high school students, and also
to form teams of high school age students. It is a terrific tournament.”
