Students are required to appear in person at Timberland High School at 6 p.m. Monday, August 30, in order to register for the GED classes. Students who are not present on August 30 will not be admitted on September 1. Classes begin September 7 and will be every Tuesday/Thursday from 6-9 p.m.
“We are looking forward to our new partnership with the Wentzville School District,”
said Diane Schroeder, associate dean of extended learning. “Wentzville will be an
excellent location for people in western St. Charles County to attend classes to prepare
for the GED tests.”
SCC offers free GED preparation classes at several other locations throughout St.
Charles, Lincoln, Pike and Warren counties. To see a list of locations, go to www.stchas.edu/ael.
The GED classes at SCC provide preparation for the GED tests as well as basic instruction
in reading, writing and math. One-on-one tutoring assistance, official GED practice
tests and computer-aided instruction are all benefits of the GED program at SCC.
Students must be at least 17 years of age to enroll in GED classes. Enrollment is
scheduled monthly at all locations. Students are given an initial assessment test
to determine GED test readiness and will provide information for an individual learning
plan. Students work at their own pace and must commit themselves to attend two full
class meetings per week for at least one month of classroom instruction.
