SCC to Hold Open Auditions for "Picasso at the Lapin Agile"

In this absurdist comedy, a young Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso meet in The Lapin Agile, a Parisian café, in 1904. These two geniuses, along with several quirky bystanders, discuss art and science, fame and fortune, the 20th century’s achievements and future prospects. A surprise visitor from the future also makes an appearance at the café.

Director Lynne Snyder will hold open auditions at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, and 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 4, in Room 108 of the Donald D. Shook Fine Arts Building on the SCC campus in Cottleville. Center Stage Theatre invites SCC students and community residents to audition. Parts are available for seven men and three women.

A script is on reserve in the library. Those auditioning will be asked to read from the script. Anyone with an audition monologue is encouraged to present it.

Rehearsals will begin Wednesday, Oct. 6. Those auditioning must have Monday-Friday evenings free, as well as the weekend before the performances.

“Picasso at the Lapin Agile” will be performed in the theater of the Fine Arts Building at 8 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday, Nov. 17-20, 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, and 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 18.

The play will be directed by Lynne Snyder, with set and lighting design by Lonna Wilke and costume design by Deborah Phillips.
