The Center Stage Theatre of St. Charles Community College will present the romantic comedy musical, “Guys and Dolls,” July 20-25, in the Donald D. Shook Fine Arts Building theater on the SCC campus.
The show will be performed at 8 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday, July 20-24, and at 2 p.m. Sunday,
July 25.
“Guys and Dolls” is set in Damon Runyon's mythical and vibrant New York City in the
mid-20th century. This oddball, romantic comedy musical soars with the spirit of Broadway
as it enters a vivid and eccentric world in which all men seem to be “on the make”
as gamblers and gangsters and all the women are “dolls.” The story begins with a bet
between gambler Nathan Detroit and high-roller Sky Masterson, and the drama involving
Nathan's fiancé of 14 years, Miss Adelaide, and Sky's love interest, Sister Sarah
Brown, ensues from there.
The musical will be directed and choreographed by Lynne Snyder with musical direction
by Gene Ditch. Set and lighting design will be by Jeff Roop with costume design by
Deborah Phillips. The musical is presented through special arrangement with Musical
Theatre International.
