Rock Bridge High School takes first place at 21st annual High School Math Tournament

St. Charles Community College hosted the 21st annual High School Math Tournament in cooperation with mathleague.org on March 3. The event brought 13 area high schools and 57 students to SCC’s campus. The tournament was open to any student in grades 9-12. 

The results for the tournament are as follows:

Ninth grade finalists: Target Round

  • First place: Daniel Fratilla of Hickman High School
  • Second place: Prateek Gautam of Marquette High School
  • Third place: Ashish Dhanalakota of Marquette High School
  • Third place: David Bonstead of Francis Howell Central
  • Fifth place: Riley Christian of Lindbergh High School

10th grade finalists: Target Round

  • First place: Kevin Kotzbauer of Clayton High School
  • Second place: Sarvesh Palaniappan of Fort Zumwalt West High School
  • Second place: Arjun Ramakrishnan of MICDS
  • Fourth place: Nawal Cheema of Liberty High School

11th grade finalists: Target Round

  • First place: Michael Yu of Francis Howell Central High School
  • Second place: Hongkai Jiang of Clayton High School
  • Third place: Jerry Li of Marquette High School
  • Fourth place: David Hubbartt of Francis Howell Central High School
  • Fifth place: Henry Huang of Rock Bridge High School

  • First place: Clayton High School with team members Kotzbauer, Jiang, Kahn, Zhao and Hudson
  • Second place: Rock Bridge High School with team members Kiehne, Huang and Vyas
  • Third place: Marquette High School with team members Li, Dhanalakota and Jagarlamudi
  • Fourth place: Hickman High School with team members Jones and Fratilla
  • Fifth place: MICDS with team members Dhanabal and Ramakrishnan

Relay Round: No grade level

Rock Bridge High School won the relay round with team members Kurukulasuriya, Kiehne and Huang.  

Overall winners

  • Second place: Clayton High School
  • Third place: Marquette High School
