Web Publishing Procedures
for Offical and Personal Web Pages
Official Pages
To submit new pages or modify existing official
college Web pages:
- Complete a MAC Work Request. This form is available
on the Web site at:
http://www.stchas.edu/forms/MACWorkRequest.pdf
- Create your Web pages. Nvu or Dreamweaver are the supported
tools for creating these pages.
- You can submit updates in one of two ways:
Interoffice Mail
- Submit a copy of
the HTML files on diskette along with a copy of the MAC Work
Request form to your supervisor for signature.
- Your supervisor will then review your content and sign
the form.
- Forward both disk and MAC Work Request to the Web site
coordinator ADM 1121.
E-mail
- You can e-mail your files as attachments along
with the MAC Work Request form to cscherer@stchas.edu.
- CC your supervisor in the e-mail. This will be used as
approval for posting the new files.
- NOTE: If the supervisor has
changes to the files please notify the Web site coordinator
not to post the files that were submitted. Make the changes
and resubmit using the same step
- The web site coordinator will review the HTML documents for
format and test all links. The Office of Marketing and Communications
will review the Web pages for compliance with college policies
and accuracy. The office will then make any necessary changes
or go back to the author for clarification if necessary.
- The Web site coordinator will make any necessary corrections
to the files and then transfer the files to the Web server.
Once web pages are posted then all diskettes will be returned
to the author.
See Step by Step procedures for details.
Personal Web Page Publishing Procedures
Individuals wishing to publish personal Web pages must follow
the procedures listed below. Each person requesting a Personal
Web directory must meet with the Web site coordinator.
- You must send a Web Connection form for a personal web site
to the IT Department. You can find the form at:
http://www.stchas.edu/forms/webconnect.shtml
- IT will create a personal directory and assign a password.
- IT will establish a FTP profile and download WS_FTP software
to your computer.
- IT will send your user id and password to the Web Site Coordinator.
- The Web Site Coordinator will arrange a time with you to review
Web publishing policies, and help set up your personal profile
for NVu software so you can transfer files to your Web site.
- A tutorial on the use of NVu for publishing personal Web pages
is available in the training material section of the Intranet.
- Once your files are transferred to the server, send an e-mail
to the Web site coordinator who will then activate the link from
the faculty directory page to your personal Web pages. Include
the name of the personal Web page to which you want to have your
link connected. (Note: It will only be necessary to do this the
first time you post your web pages. You will not need to notify
the web site coordinator for any updates and new additions you
make to your pages.)
