Spring break is March 12-17. No classes will be held. Classes will resume Monday, March 19. College offices will remain open during spring break. The college will be closed April 6-8. No classes will be held and all offices will be closed. Classes will resume and offices will reopen Monday, April 9. Sign up for SCC’s Text Message Emergency Alert System for updates on emergencies, warnings, campus shutdowns and weather-related closings. Even if you have registered for this service before, the system is updated once a year and clears out everyone who has registered in the past. The SCC Faculty Art Exhibition will be on display March 12-April 6 in the FAB gallery. Gallery hours are 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on Fridays, and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturdays. Erin Cox and Todd Thomas from EnterTraining International will present “Finding Creative Business Solutions,” from 7:30-9 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, at the St. Charles Convention Center in St. Charles. This event is part of the SCC Leadership & Strategy Speaker Series. The event is free, but pre-registration on the St. Charles Chamber website is required by midnight on March 11. Lunch and Learn: "Iron Jawed Angels" will be at noon Wednesday, March 2, in the Student Center Private Dining Room. Bring your lunch and watch a free showing of “Iron Jawed Angels” (2004). This film traces the events leading up to the passing of the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote. This film is unrated. This event is part of Women's History Month. Projections International Film Series will host a free film showing of "Crossing the Bridge: The Sound of Istanbul" at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, in the SSB Auditorium. Hosted by Virginia Guneyli, SCC associate professor of English, this film is a journey through the music scene in modern Istanbul, Turkey. The event is open to the public, and popcorn will be provided by the SCC International Club. Contact Guneyli at x8617 for more information. “We End Violence,” a presentation by ALIVE (Alternatives to Living in Violent Environments) will be at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Thursday, March 22, in the CC Rotunda. Speaker Stacey Lannert will host a lecture at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 22, in the SSB Auditorium. Stacey will share her story about overcoming childhood sexual abuse. CHARIS, the St. Louis Women’s Chorus, will host a concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, in the SSB Auditorium. CHARIS is a diverse group of women united in their mission to perform music that celebrates and encourages women and the LGBT community. This event is part of Women's History Month. The 2011-12 Staff Training and Education Program (STEP) schedule is now available online. Deadlines for enrolling: BIT Training, March 20; Respectful Interactions, April 2; Employee Recognition and Praise: How to Do It? When to Do It? April 6. Human Resources is hosting an external educational opportunity for SCC faculty, deans and directors. “A Matter of Excellence: Strategic Diversity Leadership in the Academy” will be from Faculty and staff who are interested in joining a recreational co-ed softball team this spring should contact Todd Galbierz at x8359. The team will play doubleheaders on Thursday nights at the Ozzie Smith Sports Complex in O’Fallon. The league begins on March 29 and the game times are between 6:30-10:30 pm. The estimated cost per player is $40, depending on the number of people on the team. |

Summer and fall 2012 registration for current and returning students begins Monday, April 2. Encourage students to meet with their advisors in ADM 1204 ahead of time to avoid waiting in long lines later on. Registration for summer and fall 2012 classes opens to all students on Monday, April 9. The following college representatives will be visiting SCC to discuss transfer requirements (all representatives will have tables set up in the Atrium of the Administration Building):
The SCC Foundation and Board of Trustees Scholarship Program will award nearly $250,000 in scholarships to SCC students for the 2012-13 school year. Scholarship packets are available at www.stchas.edu/scholarships. Packets are due by 4:30 p.m. Monday, April 2, 2012. |
