Associate of Arts in
Teaching Degree
Developed by community college teacher educators throughout the state
and offered by every community college in Missouri, the Associate of Arts
in Teaching Degree is a transfer degree for future educators. Students
completing this degree will observe and participate in K-12 classrooms and
will examine theories of human growth and development, learning theories,
assessment strategies, classroom management principles, integration of
technology into the K-12 curriculum, and the legal, historical, and
philosophical foundations of our American education system.

Other Requirements:
- Students enrolled in any course that requires contact with
P-12 students will be required to sign permission for and pay
for
a criminal background check. Students who have been convicted
of a felony must appeal to the Missouri State Board of Education
for a waiver before enrolling in any course that includes direct
contact with K-12 students.
- Students must achieve a minimum GPA if 2.5, including a C or
better in each EDU class.
- Students must achieve a minimum score of 235 on each section
of the C-BASE.
- A minimum of 15 credit hours must be completed at SCC.

additional requirements including higher GPA or C-BASE scores. Students
are encouraged to work closely with an advisor from the receiving
institution so that they may understand and prepare to meet all entrance
