Filmed in South Dakota, with the permission and support of the Lakota, Oglala Sioux, Thunderheart is a fictional story that resembles the events surrounding the 1973 Sioux-FBI conflict which ended up with fatalities on both sides. The Sioux refer to that event as Wounded Knee Two. Photographed on the Pine Ridge Reservation and the Badlands National Park. A superb cast with supporting roles by Sam Shepard, Graham Greene and Fred Thompson, this contemporary western brings to the screen the struggle for a better way of life for Native Americans living on the poorest reservation in the nation.
This event is free, open to the public, and sponsored by the Multicultural Programming Committee.
